FREE BOOKS AT FAMILY FUN DAY
Miss Lakeland 2022 Lindsey Franxman will be supporting early literacy by giving away books to children at an upcoming Family Fun Day. The event, sponsored by the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County, will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4 at 115 S. Missouri Ave., Lakeland. Admission and food will be free to all. A special part of the program will salute all teachers present. Children will also be treated to face painting, train rides, K-9 and magic demonstrations, balloon art, and more fun. SHOES FOR LOCAL CHILDREN
Bless Your Sole Shoe Foundation is accepting donations Brooks Running Shoes to raise money to purchase new shoes in all styles and sizes for elementary school age children. Originally the brainchild of Bartow Police Deputy Chief Lauro Diaz, Bless Your Sole has partnered with the Bartow Rotary Club, along with Becky Maslak of Ewing Blackwelder & Duce Insurance.The mission is to purchase as many shoes as possible for children in need throughout the Bartow community.
